Why this Democratic Party Has Concealed its 2024 Election Autopsy: The Inside Story.

This move by the Democratic National Committee to suppress the publication regarding its own post-election analysis concerning the 2024 election appears remarkable yet entirely predictable. Opposed to frank assessments, the party's leadership apparatus operates more like a publicity machine rather than an electoral entity devoted to cultivating grassroots capacities to secure victories.

A Climate That Avoids Dissent

Hesitant to depart from the party establishment's culture demanding unity, the committee has continued within the Biden-Harris shadow throughout this past year. Publishing the findings would have indicated that the leadership actually want to promote public discourse regarding the strategic failures that paved the way for Donald Trump to become president again. However, the leadership is moving forward under the pretense that there is little to be learned following the tragic debacle of 2024.

"Here’s our North Star: is this good for winning elections? If not, it becomes a sideline issue from what truly matters," a justification which was presented to justify concealing the document.

Key Issues an Analysis Would Have Addressed

Any valuable post-mortem worth its salt would confront key points of failure. These include:

  • Electoral Disenchantment: Failing to retain of millions of voters who supported the Democratic ticket in 2020 became a critical factor in the close 2024 election.
  • The Decision to Seek Re-election: The unwavering decision of a party leader to run again, alongside a very late exit, is seen by some as denying the party's base of a competitive nomination process.
  • Abandoning Everyday Americans: While facing inflation, the campaign reportedly bowing to elite contributors without successfully attempting to challenge the effects of corporate greed.
  • A Gaza Impact: The failure to adjust a stance regarding a major international conflict reportedly led to alienating significant blocs, particularly with youth voters, Arab-Americans, and Muslim Americans.
  • Losing Youth Support: Research shows a huge decrease in support for the party from voters aged 18-29.

A History Avoiding Accountability

The decision to withhold aligns with a longstanding habit to avoid difficult realities. This mirrors an episode where the vast majority of Democratic officeholder in Washington supported an incumbent's decision for seeking another term right up until a catastrophic campaign event led to a change.

Concurrently, large majorities of the electorate were continually telling pollsters of their opposition to that candidate to run again.

Financial Issues

A substantive report could probe issues regarding financial allocations, including what sums went to insider consultants as well as media firms over the course of a campaign that managed to spend a colossal war chest over a few months.

A Underlying Implication

At its core, the suppression regarding the analysis highlights a deference toward the established hierarchy that oversaw an unsuccessful national race. The implication to the party's base – which includes countless small donors – is that they cannot have a right to see the lessons the insiders claim to have learned based on an analysis drawing from conversations with insiders.

A party incapable to critically review its own failings will struggle to climb out of the cycle which was so helpful to their opponents.
